To provide greater protection for your belongings and to make loading easier, pack as much as you can into boxes

Start packing 7 to 9 weeks before your move date. Go to Dino’s Movers “ Moving Planner ”

Don’t try to save on your packing materials “ Packing Supplies”. It is far cheaper to buy packing materials then to have to replace your belongings.

Keep your valuables and essentials separately, so you can take these items with you.
5.
Fill each box to capacity if needed use fillers to fill empty spaces. Make sure that you reinforce the bottom of all boxes with tape.
6.
Keep the weight of your boxes reasonable, should not be more than 50 pounds, pack heavy items in smaller boxes.
7.
Soft goods like pillows and stuffed toys may be packed in large garbage bags, these bags are useful as fillers when loading.
8.
If possible dismantle all items and protect any sharp corners so not to puncture or scratch other objects loading.
9.
Dishes and Glassware/Bowls
Wrap each plate individually in tissue paper and newsprint; next take 4 wrapped plates and wrap them together. Take the bundle and stand on its edge in box. Use padding between bundles. NEVER lay them flat
Individually wrap each glass, pad the bottom of the box, pack glass rim down and to pack empty spaces in box with cushioning materials.
Do the same for Bowls as you did for the plates. You can place bowls on end or flat
Fine silver should be wrapped in cloth

Lamps and Delicate Items
Dismantle lamps by removing the assembly, bulb and shade. Wrap each piece individually with bubble wrap, towels or blankets. The shade is best if you can find a box that is close to the shade measurements. Pack one shade per box. Put fragile stickers and description of contents with location in your new home
11.
Curtains, Draperies and Clothing
Use medium size boxes to pack clothing, you can also leave some in dressers. Hanging clothing, curtains and draperies can be packed in wardrobe cartons
12.
Furniture
To protect wood furnishing against scratches apply wax to surface
Dismantle all furniture that needs to be dismantled. Place wing nuts or screws in plastic bags and tape to furniture
Secure dresser drawers and loose items in dressers
Wrap and secure blankets to furniture with tape. Do not apply tape on wood surfaces it may damage
Sofa cushions and pillows should be packed in plastic bags, they are very useful when loading truck
We recommend that mirrors, pictures, paintings and glass tops should be packed in special cartons or be crated. Dino’s Movers will provide the service of crating at your request
Mattress’ should be covered to protect them from soil and damage. You may order bed covers from Dino’s Movers “Packing Supplies”
13.
Appliances
Allow refrigerators and freezers to dry at least one full day
Tape and secure trays and other moving parts on refrigerator and stove
Washing machines should have all hoses disconnected, and store them inside the machine. Secure the washer drum with towels placed between drum and sidewall or get materials available from your hardware store
Tape all doors, lids and electrical cords on appliance
Small appliances like clocks and radios should be individually packed. Wrap with bubble wrap, linens or towels
14.
Electronics
Original manufacturers packaging is the best to pack computers, printers and other electronic items. But if these are not available try to get a approximate sized box for the item, pack in shock resistant insulation (Styrofoam “popcorn” or bubble wrap)
Be sure to back up all of your important files and programs. Store the backup disks with your original program disks and keep in secure containers to take with you. Go to Dino’s Movers “ Do Not Ship List ”
15.
Tools and Garage Items
Drain all gasoline and oil from any power tools, and disconnect all batteries. Hand tools should be wrapped and packed. Bundle all long handled tools if possible.
